This is an overall 3/5 but the jerk is 5/5 hence, 4/5 rating. My friend and I usually trek all the way from jamaica, queens for haitian pates and jamaican oxtail in brooklyn. On our way back one day from our haul we stopped at a light and saw the tell tale signs of good jerk... 1. an actual outdoor barbeque smoker (none of that phoney indoor stove saucy bbq sauce jerk) 2. the smell of the delicious and smokey woody seasoning 3. tall, lanky fresh off the boat jamaican cookin it up The jerk was the best jerk I've had so far in BK hands down. They sell it by the cut vs. small, large. Its $5 for the legs cut up, then around 8 for legs and quarters (breast?) and about 12 for another added section. It all tastes good to me. Good spice, light crust, juicy, tender and that smoke pinkish color that makes you yell bumbaclaat!!!!! i kid...but it is quite delicious. Sadly, the rest of the food isn't as great but not bad either. The rice was a bit dry for my taste (i shared my friend's rice since she completely forgot to add mine) and the mac could use more cheese throughout but the crust is pretty good. The could give larger stewed chicken portions and it wasn't as fall off the bone as I like but I've had worse. Cabbage is kind of fool proof and it was good here as expected. If you want to find the ultimate jerk chicken spot and friendly service come here. I can't speak on the oxtail (my fav), curry goat or ackee but if you are a die hard on stewed chicken and you know a damn good spot go there instead. Oh, and it's a restaurant too so sit down with the fam if you want but its more of an order and run spot.

Bad news - they have joined the fray and installed a gas-fired grill in the kitchen, most of the jerk chicken is now made inside on a gas grill. The actually BBQ drum outside is only used on special occasions/once in a while now. What a bummer. The spot on Utica Ave. b/t President and Union still makes jerk chicken outside on the drum almost all year; they were #2 behind Boston Jerk City, but I guess they have gone to #1 now, sigh.

I love their jerk chicken. It's amazing. They give you a decent portion and they always make it fresh. It usually comes with good ol hard dough bread. It's a must have

Favorite spot for a fix of Caribbean food. I order from this place for take-out. My favorite is their jerk chicken with rice and beans and hot pepper. Chicken is done just right, huge chunks, and juicy. The pepper gives it that kick! The portions are huge, and price is cheap. Another dish I love from here is their oxtail. Fresh, mouthwatering and simply delicious. They have a sitting area, like a regular restaurant as well, if you choose to dine-in.

I am extremely disappointed! I came here last summer and the jerk pork and jerk chicken was so delicious but there was no parking so we ended up leaving and I've been wanting to come back here for a long time! Today was not my day! The jerk chicken was extremely dry and had no seasoning and when I say it had no seasoning I mean it literally tasted like rotisserie chicken instead of jerk! My mother had the oxtail and it was undercooked which made it very tough! The meat was covered in fat which you know is extremely annoying given the amount oxtail typically cost in Jamaican restaurants. The only thing that tasted good on all of our plates was the macaroni and cheese!

Who is the chef smh he needs to be replaced first of all its obvious the chicken is not clean when prepping and when cook it is soooo dry to the point u cant swallow, rice n peas taste and smell old, oxtail so so only thing palatable is the inside of the fried dumpling yep the inside the outside is the same texture as the jerk chicken tuff I've tried coming back to give support but still no improvement this time am done never coming back

Boston Jerk City is great! I've been to plenty of restaurants (especially carribean) and Boston Jerk City has by far been the best. The food is always consistantly good and the portions are very overwhelming but great if u like to enjoy the next day or later. I feel like the restaurant should have a more welcoming feel, the thick plastic glass between you & the server is sort of strange but I know its for there safety. But overall, I RECOMMEND BOSTON JERK CITY TO ALL.

Finally tried this place out, not sure about all the good reviews, the jerk chicken was very dry, it took alot of chewing, not juicy at all. The highlight of the menu was the mac n cheese, which warrants the 3 stars...will not give it another try.

If you love spice and you wanna tear your mouth up and blow your booty out, you've come to the right place. Spicy, spicy, spicy as hell, and I love every minute of it. The smokers are always on full blast as meat, meat and more meat is being smoked to perfection. That spice is crazy, y'all. I can taste every ingredient in that jerk seasoning, cinnamon, cumin, herbs, spice, more spice and more damn spice. Juicy, tasty and worthy for a few more visits.

Horrible food, their food looks like it has been siting out since the day before, I ordered a jerk chicken meal and also a jerk pork meal and once I got home with my food the pork and the chicken was so hard. I would never recommend anyone to the place. It's so bad that even the condition of the restaurant should of made me turn away...

First let Me just Say This. This was 1 of My Spots Yrs Ago. Over the Course of Time this Rest. has Literally Lost it's Touch. This Establishment has become My Last Resort if I wanted a Quick Fix whenever I am in the Mood for West Indian Cuisine(Jamaican Cuisine) . I Ordered a Large Jerk Chicken, Stem Vegetables and Peas & Rice w a Side Order of Macaroni Pie and the Food was Bland. No Authentic Taste to their Dishes I Selected. This has been going on for Some Time. Hopefully this Rest. can Revitalize their SetUp and Change My Mind as Well as Others. Their Service is Still on Point which I Never had a Problem with.

From the late-40s to the mid-60s my Grandparents lived on E 49th Street, about 100 yards from where Boston Jerk City now stands. Utica Ave always was kind of industrial, but the streets behind it were the residential area where I spent many happy weekends and school holidays. We drove through to take a look at the old house and it (and the whole neighborhood) are looking good. It is now very much an West Indian enclave and that shows in the restaurants. We were starving and we're fans of Caribbean food so we stopped in at Boston Jerk City. There is a front part that is take-out oriented and a dining room in back with table service. Service was friendly and the food was great. I had Goat Curry which was nice and tender and on par with the best I've had anywhere. My mother had the Chicken Curry which was pretty typical, My wife had Jerk Chicken. That comes with two sauces, a traditional Jerk sauce that will burn your insides out and a milder barbecue sauce that most people will prefer. Sides were pretty typical, good but not special. Overall a nice place to stop if you are in the area.
